About Ballantine’s

Ballantine’s traces back to 1827, when a young George Ballantine, who’d left home at 13 for a grocer’s apprenticeship in Edinburgh, opened his own grocery store. Within a decade he’d shifted the shop’s focus to wine and spirits, blending and ageing whisky himself, before opening a larger premises in Glasgow.
