The story of Glenfiddich begins on Christmas Day 1887, when William Grant lit the fires at his new distillery in Dufftown, Speyside, using secondhand equipment he had negotiated from a neighbouring operation. A word on the Perpetual Collection: VAT 01, VAT 02, and VAT 03 were developed for travel retail and use a continuous vatting process where the vat is never fully emptied, so older spirit is always present in the blend. The result is richer and more complex than a standard age-statement expression at a comparable price. VAT 01 (RM270 for 1000ml) is the lightest and freshest of the three. VAT 02 (RM285 for 1000ml) adds more sherry influence. VAT 03 (RM315 for 700ml) incorporates 15-year-old spirit for the deepest finish of the line. Steady value across all three if you want the Glenfiddich house style taken further than the 12 Years but without the 18 Years price tag.
